Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights many conveniences on top of the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
