Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that features a number of comforts on top of the casino, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
